Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Interim Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day accounting operations of our finance team during a transitional period. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing month-end close, overseeing general ledger activity, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits and compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
Supervise a small team of accountants; provide coaching and guidance as needed Coordinate with external auditors and support audit and compliance processes Monitor and improve accounting policies and internal control procedures Assist in cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis Support ad hoc projects including process improvements, system upgrades, or transition planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) Minimum 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including management Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting operations Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines Prior experience in interim, contract, or turnaround roles a plus Excellent communication and analytical skills Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
