Tampa, Florida Responsibilities This position is responsible for: Leading accounting research on complex transactions and preparing technical accounting analyses for presentation to executive management (CEO, CFO, and CAO). This includes, but is not limited to, foreign currency hedging, goodwill impairment, stock compensation, debt offerings, derivatives, and M&A transactions. This role will play a critical part in determining the appropriate accounting treatment under US GAAP and assessing alternative approaches.
Overseeing the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and coordinating with legal teams on the Proxy Statement and other regulatory filings. Ensuring compliance with evolving SEC, FASB, and other regulatory requirements. In this position, you will: Serve as a key technical accounting resource, leading research on complex accounting and reporting issues, including those related to foreign currency transactions, goodwill impairment testing, and equity-based compensation.
Consult with business leaders and finance teams to assess the accounting and financial reporting implications of complex transactions and develop appropriate guidance.
Prepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers for executive leadership and external auditors.
Communicate and train stakeholders on new accounting standards and emerging financial reporting regulations.
Direct and oversee the preparation and review of external financial reports, including SEC filings such as 10-Qs, 10-Ks, earnings releases, and 8-Ks.
Lead interactions with external auditors, ensuring smooth coordination on technical accounting matters.
Assess and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting and complex accounting areas.
Mentor and guide junior team members, helping to build expertise in technical accounting and research. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting; CPA required.
7+ years of experience, including significant tenure in a Big 4 accounting firm with extensive exposure to SEC reporting and complex technical accounting issues.
Deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with proven experience researching and applying technical accounting guidance.
Strong knowledge of accounting for foreign currency transactions, goodwill and intangible assets, and stock-based compensation.
Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical matters to executive leadership.
Proven leadership capabilities, with the ability to guide and influence stakeholders across the organization.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Occasional travel may be required.
