Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Lakeland, FL. This role will be a key part of the finance department, supporting the accounting operations of a leading home builder in the region. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the financial success of projects that shape communities and provide families with their dream homes.

This role will involve working closely with various teams within the organization, including construction, sales, and project management, requiring a collaborative and adaptable individual.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to foster their growth and development. Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close processes. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reports, specifically related to home building projects and related costs. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Collaborate with other departments, such as construction and sales, to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency related to project costing, revenue recognition, and job costing. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports, including project-specific financial analysis. Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making, including project profitability analysis. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required. Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience. Previous leadership, management, or supervisory experience required. Experience with an ERP system (e.g., Procore, Sage, or similar) is essential. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles, particularly as they relate to the construction industry. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
