Accounting DepartmentManager:
  • The Accounting Manager is a seasoned leader,collaborative team player, and proactive problem-solver.
  • Thisrole supports the Controller in managing all accounting departmentfunctions, with a specific focus on overseeing the day-to-dayoperations of the department.
  • Key responsibilities includesupervising and reviewing reconciliations, promptly identifying andresolving issues, preparing and filing regulatory reports to ensurecompliance with reporting deadlines, and developing and supervisingaccounting staff.
  • Additionally, this position coordinates overalldepartment workflow and collaborates closely with both front-lineand back-office staff to resolve issues and ensure the smoothfunctioning of the accounting department.

Job Requirements for the

Accounting Department Manager:
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree inAccounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 yearsin a managerial role at a financial institution.

Accounting Department Manager:
  • Wire Transfers:

    Manage andoversee the processing of domestic and international wiretransfers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with bankingregulations.

  • Accounts Payable:

    Supervise the accounts payableprocess, including invoice processing, payment approvals, vendorsetup, and problem resolution. Research and implement bestpractices to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

  • AccountReconciliations:

    Oversee and review daily and monthly accountreconciliations, including custodial accounts, to ensure accurateand timely reporting. Aid in resolving errors and reconciling itemstimely and accurately.

  • 1099
Reporting:

Oversee the preparationand filing of the annual 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms, ensuringcompliance with IRS regulations.

  • Internal Controls:

    Develop,implement and update internal controls to safeguard the bank’sassets and ensure the integrity of financial data.

TeamLeadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountingprofessionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance workenvironment. Provide ongoing training for accounting staff toensure they are knowledgeable about changes in related financialregulations, technologies, and best practices. Conduct timelyperformance evaluations, recommend salary adjustments, and processtimecards efficiently.

  • Compliance:

    Ensure all accountingactivities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internalpolicies.

  • Audit Support:

    Provide assistance during bankexaminations and internal and external audits by preparingnecessary documentation, gathering required information, andensuring timely submission of all audit materials. Aid inimplementing and monitoring corrective actions based on auditfindings to enhance the department’s operational efficiency andregulatory compliance.

Documentation and CommunicationManagement:

Develop and maintain comprehensive instructions,manuals, and policies for various accounting tasks and reports.

Ensure effective communication and correspondence with vendors andcustomers.

  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting:

    Support theController in compiling and completing a range of financial reportsfor bank management and Directors. This includes preparing variousfinancial reports such as the Abandoned Property Report, IRSfilings, and other required reports for Federal and State agencies

  • Offsite Testing:

    Oversee and schedule offsite testing forcritical functions as necessary.

  • Correspondent Contact:

    Maintainup-to-date bank correspondent contact information anddocumentation.

  • Flexibility:

    Be flexible to assist with othertasks and provide support as needed. Perform duties of accountingstaff and be able to fill in for the Controller as needed.
