Corporate Controller

JOB SUMMARY

Oversee the day-to-day corporate accounting function, including consolidating the financials books for currently owned subsidiaries & management company, providing monthly/quarterly/annual financial & supplemental reporting, and oversight from an accounting perspective for acquiring/developing residential BTR communities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

(Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Education, and Physical Requirements) Bachelors of Accounting degree required, CPA and Big4 a strong plus 7+ years relevant work experience needed with experience operating at a senior level Previous experience doing a full-cycle close & financial statement preparation Detail oriented with strong organization skills, strong in both written and verbal communication Proficiency in MS Excel & other MS Office products, Yardi experience a strong plus Real estate accounting experience a strong plus (preferably residential real estate) Ability to read and understand legal contracts, residential leases and other contracts Excellent analytical skills required In-person work required for first 90 days, after which 1-2 days/week remote schedule available based on performance. Occasional travel required for board or other team meetings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

(Major responsibilities of the job) Lead, oversee & develop corporate accounting team in day-to-day responsibilities Manage monthly/quarterly close procedures, including analyzing general ledger detail, budget-to-actual comparisons, and compiling & reviewing consolidated financial statements Oversee all internal and external reporting, including lender compliance reporting, investor reporting, budgets, tax preparation, REIT testing & compliance, audit, and other ad-hoc reporting Assist SVP of Accounting & CEO with planning and other aspects pertaining to financial management Review acquisition & construction contracts to ensure accurate purchase price allocations Ensuring timely debt service payments & compliance with debt and lender reporting requirements Oversee payroll and liaise with Human Resources to ensure accurate & timely payroll processing Assist with process improvement & automation and system enhancements (Yardi & Kahua) Oversight of treasury & accounts payable to ensure timely vendor payments Oversee entity management and ensure timely filing of annual business licenses & statutory reporting Calculate monthly carried interest & investor returns, and facilitate capital calls as needed Research technical accounting guidance as needed
