About the Position
Responsibilities may include: 1. Engage in direct contact through correspondence and conversation with taxpayers, tax professionals, attorneys, permittees, and local and state officials to resolve issues or concerns. 2. Processes refunds by conducting necessary research to verify account balances and issue refunds. 3. Review and process work items and cases timely by moving payments, returns, abating penalties, and filing frequency changes per taxpayers’ correspondence in accordance with DOR guidelines. 4. Review city diversion by comparing and reviewing City, Special, and Occupancy Diversions each month. 5. Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the Sales Tax/Post Audit section, and other department personnel, as required. 6. Other tasks as assigned.
What you’ll need to be Successful
The ability to learn the complexities of tax administration as indicated by the task, by making wise, informed decisions and correctly executing tax policies and procedures which promote taxpayer compliance and tax revenue collection in accordance with the State’s tax statutes. Be proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer software. Ability to communicate with taxpayers and tax professionals in verbal and written form. Ability to multitask and manage assigned tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience, and 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
