POSITION SUMMARY

Heelstone is seeking a Vice President of Capital Markets who will be the day-to-day lead on tax equity and project debt origination and execution. This position will work closely with Heelstone’s development, investment, construction, operations, and legal teams. This is a full-time hybrid position located in Durham, NC. A successful candidate for this position will have experience in the renewable energy industry in a role that is transaction and capital markets-focused.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to lead and manage capital markets transactions (project debt and tax equity) from inception to closing, which will involve: Evaluation of projects in Heelstone’s pipeline for financeability and related execution risks Management of RFP processes with debt and tax equity investors Negotiation of term sheets with shortlisted counterparties Managing of counterparty due diligence process, including coordination with third-party advisors to produce project consultant reports Negotiation of related legal documentation and coordination with internal and external legal counsel Build and maintain relationships with banks, lenders, tax equity, and financial advisors Report the progress of your transactions in a variety of forums across the business Engage in regular collaboration and interaction with development, investment, construction, operations, and legal teams

SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

Understanding of financing tools, including debt (construction, term, and revolvers), tax equity, and cash equity Understanding of legal contracts, including representations and warranties, covenants, closing conditions, and indemnification provisions Understanding of “solar economics” and financial modeling. Ability to evaluate risk exposure Ability to prioritize, manage competing deadlines, and contribute to a collaborative environment Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively Self-starter who operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills Strong organization and management skills Highly proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Demonstrated record of execution at a utility-scale developer, investment bank, or similar position 8+ years of experience in a transaction-oriented finance role, with some experience in renewable energy required 4-year degree required
