open ONLY for current employees of the NC Department of Revenue including temporaries who are currently working for DOR.• The North Carolina Department of Revenue is currently accepting applications for a Revenue Field Auditor Supervisor. The Revenue Field Auditor Supervisor is the manager level auditor who maintains oversight of all Examination Division Large Case Sales auditors. The staff consists of Field Auditor IIs. Responsibilities and duties of the Revenue Field Auditor Supervisor may be categorized into four major areas: management of staff; ensure audit quality through use of audit selection, examination analysis and documentation, report preparation and audit delivery; interaction with other departmental personnel; provide technical and professional knowledge. The position reconstructs and develops accounting methods that properly reflect income/sales and expenses in cases where either no records or inadequate records or accounting data is available. The position writes comprehensive, concise reports of examinations that serve as the basis for changes and proposed adjustments in cases of considerable importance and complexity. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and auditing techniques.
Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal tax code, issues, and case law.
Extensive working knowledge of the revenue laws of North Carolina and the North Carolina administrative code.
Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of accounting systems, including computerized systems, including those peculiar to certain businesses and industries in order to make complex tax determinations is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of partnerships, trusts, fiduciaries, and large business entities having multiple divisions or subsidiaries.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or related field with at least eighteen semester hours of accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience as a Field Auditor II including two years in an advanced, specialized, or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
