Accounting Manager; 9161-301-N 2.8 2.8 out of 5 stars 191 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201 For 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as other special projects as assigned. While reporting to the Controller the position works closely with a variety of internal departments and non-accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions. The Accounting Manager must be a diligent, self-motivated individual with a keen attention to detail. Maintain accounting systems to ensure GAAP compliance, financial reporting, performance reporting, and financial viability. Compilation of data, for fiscal reports, including monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements. Assist with the production of departmental fiscal management reports to Administration, and Department Directors. Interface with the external auditors and assist in the audit process as assigned. Reconcile and or review all financial information. Including but not limited to cash, AR, Prepaid Expenses, Fixed Assets, AP, Accruals, Advances, Revenue, Expenses and related costs. Review banking transactions and maintaining of cash flow reports on a daily basis. Interfacing with outside billing company when necessary. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Annual Operating Budgets. Assist with the preparation of the 990 and cost report
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with at least 5 – 7 years of experience in Nursing Home organization; or a combination of education and work experience. Five to seven years of progressive experience in fiscal and budgetary operations’ in a Nursing Home organization. Proficiency in fund accounting systems, and Microsoft word and spreadsheet applications. Proficiency in fund accounting systems, and Microsoft word and spreadsheet applications. Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
