Job Description
Post Secondary School Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper Metro Beauty Academy 4977 Medical Center Circle, Allentown, PA 18106 The Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and business administration of the cosmetology school. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations, manages budgets, handles student accounts, and provides strategic financial guidance to support the school’s growth and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting, finance, and business operations, preferably in the education or cosmetology industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Oversee the school’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, payroll processing, and tax filings. Monitor and manage cash flow, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Ensure compliance with federal and state financial regulations, including financial aid and accreditation requirements. Work with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.
Student Financial Services:
Manage student tuition billing, payment plans, and financial aid disbursement. Assist students with financial aid inquiries and payment arrangements. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with financial aid regulations.
Business Operations:
Support overall business functions, including vendor management and purchasing. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency. Work closely with admissions and administrative staff to ensure smooth operations. Assist in grant and funding applications to support school programs.
Strategic Planning:
Provide financial analysis and recommendations for business growth and expansion. Monitor key financial metrics to assess school performance and profitability. Develop strategies to optimize revenue streams and cost-saving measures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred but not required. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or business management. Experience in the education or cosmetology industry is a plus. Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
Office setting within the cosmetology school. Interaction with students, faculty, and external vendors. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during peak financial periods.
