Departmental Overview:
The Marketing Department oversees all marketing activities for one of the most visited Museum’s in America by developing and executing marketing strategies, managing campaigns, creating content, and analyzing performance to optimize results. The Department is organized into three areas, including brand marketing, revenue marketing, and digital properties and licensing. The brand and revenue marketing teams develop and execute campaigns across channels, including digital, social media, and traditional media; guide customer communications and engagement; track and analyze perforce; and collaborate with internal and external partners. The digital properties and licensing team members guide Museum websites, newsletters, and intellectual property uses. These three areas report into the Senior Director or Marketing, and wholistically, the marketing team is part of the museum’s External Affairs Division, which also includes the Museum’s public relations and education teams.
Position Overview:
This is a fully on-site position. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Director of Revenue Marketing will oversee the Museum’s revenue-focused marketing strategies, operations, and reporting through effective collaborations with the paid, shared, and owned media, as well as partnership marketing activities. This individual ensures that best-in-class marketing practices are applied to Museum, Hatch Show Print, and Studio admissions and retail, guided tours, CMA Theater performances, third-party events/venue rentals, dining, and membership, as well as select additional activities as requested.
Specific Job Duties:
Marketing Responsibilities Creates, deploys, and evaluates marketing campaigns that align with business objectives and deliver demonstrated results in support of the Museum’s revenue generating activities to meet or exceed acquisition, engagement, and revenue expectations. Reviews and reports on results of paid marketing campaigns, providing insight, analysis, and expert-level recommendations. Onboards and oversees BrightEdge SEO software applications, inclusive of the institution’s Large Language Models integration. Provides insight and feedback on web, email marketing, social media marketing strategy, traditional and print marketing, distribution, audience engagement, and audience growth. Creates workflows and systems to plan and execute marketing needs, including meeting structures, creative jobs, internal processes, shared calendars, etc. across departments and divisions of the Museum. Works cross-departmentally and with external agencies to launch media buys and fulfill advertising secured for multiple campaigns, including digital/social, print, radio, streaming, TV, outdoor, and other media. Keeps the Museum up to date on emerging technologies and platforms, especially as it relates to marketing performance and revenue generation with focuses on tourism and other targeted audiences. Budget, Staff & Community Leadership Oversees a marketing manager. Serves as the Marketing Department’s leadership contact with Revenue Division and Membership Department. Serves as a Museum Marketing Department leadership representative with diverse external stakeholders, such as the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp., nonprofit partners, etc. Develops and manages annual marketing expense budgets for Revenue Division and Membership Department business, inclusive of presenting budgetary needs, managing that annual budget, and ensuring that activities remain within budget.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital, business, communications or related field 5-7 years of marketing experience, with gradually increasing responsibility and leadership role(s) Experience in strategizing, launching, and steering marketing campaigns that are directly tied to revenue and other key performance indicators Proficiency in analyzing and reporting on campaigns (digital, paid, and otherwise), with special attention on revenue and return on spend Working knowledge of advertising-specific terms as they relate to reporting Prior museum, hospitality, tourism, not-for-profit, agency, or related experience preferred Exceptional project management, attention to detail, and communication skills are required to effectively balance the varied goals and objectives of each project or campaign Able to exercise discretion and keep strictest levels of confidentiality Periodic nights and weekends required for Museum or industry/community events Familiarity with SEO platforms and web optimization practices, as it relates to search and AI-generated results Knowledge of digital and social media landscape Key Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Highly innovative and strategic self-starter with strong business acumen Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize across numerous projects, multi-tasking and being flexible in a fast paced, changing environment Excellent oral and written communication skills, including email communication and group presentations Ability to work individually and with cross-functional teams to develop consensus within diverse groups and drive results Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses outstanding follow-through skills Process development skills, ability to keep work moving effectively while minimizing problems and delays Positive attitude and desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and management Knowledge of MS Office 365, Google Analytics, Basecamp, and CRM (Tessitura) experience is preferred Working knowledge of reporting platforms, social media marketing software, and online applications, such as Google Analytics, Sprout, social media insights and analytics Notes to
