Inventory Costing Manager Job Description As the Inventory Costing Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping financial processes and collaborating with key stakeholders to implement an effective inventory tracking system. Your position is essential in aligning operational and financial workflows to ensure seamless data accuracy and integrity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Procurement, Purchasing, Sales, IT, and Finance, to establish strong financial foundations. Responsibilities Develop a cost accounting framework by designing and implementing accounting processes to track production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, while ensuring compliance within an ERP system. Manage inventory and product costing by overseeing inventory valuation methodologies to maintain accurate product costing, incorporating both direct and indirect costs. Maintain system-level costing by establishing perpetual inventory costing methods and leading ongoing system maintenance, acting as the primary point of contact for inventory costing operations. Optimize inventory management through the implementation of effective controls, conducting audits, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to maintain inventory integrity. Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) by assisting in budgeting, forecasting, cost assessments, and inventory movement while ensuring purchasing aligns with financial goals. Drive compliance and process improvement by recommending cost-control strategies, refining manufacturing processes, and enhancing reporting accuracy. Provide operational support by analyzing manufacturing cost processes to identify ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and boost profitability. Essential Skills Proficiency in cost accounting, accounting, general ledger, inventory, cost analysis, reconciliation, and month-end processes. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering. At least 8 years of experience in financial and/or cost accounting, with 5+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of perpetual inventory flows and manufacturing processes within ERP systems such as EBS, JDE, or equivalent. Hands-on experience collaborating with Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to analyze product costs and variances. Proven track record in developing and implementing manufacturing inventory costing models and processes. Expertise in inventory accounting methods, including standard costing and backflush costing methodologies. Leadership in monthly financial close processes, ensuring accurate tracking of material and production variances, inventory valuation, capitalized costs, COGS, and financial reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications CPA certification preferred. Experience in Bill of Materials (BOM) setup and maintenance.
