Patient Demographics & Financial Manager Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Insurance Verification and Billing Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for auditing patient insurance information, verifying eligibility, and ensuring accurate and up-to-date insurance records across multiple locations. You will collaborate with multiple departments, assist patients with insurance inquiries, and investigate financial discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate billing processes. This role requires strong communication skills, analytical abilities, and a commitment to confidentiality and excellence in patient financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit and verify patient insurance information across multiple locations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with various departments to maintain up-to-date and accurate insurance records for patients. Assist in contacting patients to obtain necessary insurance details, and provide assistance with Coordination of Benefits (COB) when needed. Monitor and track patient deductibles, account balances, and collections to ensure proper billing. Communicate with medical providers (MDs) and executives regarding patient account balances and collections status. Investigate financial issues such as unpaid bills, overpayments, and discrepancies to ensure proper resolution. Update patient information in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as needed and communicate changes to all relevant parties. Protect the organization’s values by ensuring patient information is handled with confidentiality and in compliance with privacy standards. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks and duties as required. Perform all other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the billing and collections processes.
Skills and Qualifications:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a billing or collections role, or equivalent experience. Intermediate proficiency in bookkeeping and Microsoft Excel. Strong ability to analyze financial data and patient accounts. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to interface effectively with internal and external team members. Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team success. High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential patient information.
