Premium Payment Specilaist Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Inc. 200 Oakwood Lane, Hollywood, FL 33020 “At Will” Employment The Broward Regional Health Planning Council is an “at will” employer. Consequently, employees serve at the pleasure of the Council without entitlements or “property rights” to continued employment. The employment relationship can be severed at any time by either the employee or the Council for any reason or no reason (except for an unlawful reason). Some positions at the Council are also dependent upon the receipt of grant funding for specified programs. Lack of funding, including curtailment of grant funding can be a cause for the Council to terminate the employment relationship. Nothing set forth or contained in the Personnel Policies of the Broward Regional Health Planning Council, as it now exists or may in future be amended, shall change, alter or amend the “at will” status of Council employees. No Council manager or officer has any authority to make any arrangement or to make any agreement for employment other than for employment “at will” or limiting the discretion of the Council to modify any conditions of employment. Nature of Work The Premium Payment Specialist will be responsible for interacting with clients, case managers, vendors/payees, and funders to seamlessly process monthly health insurance premium payments utilizing multiple software applications. Paramount to the position is ensuring the accuracy of premium payments being issued in accordance with the program requirements. The scope of responsibility of the Premium Payment Specialist includes support for the Insurance Benefit Management Program and Finance department. Additionally, the Premium Payment Specialist will be responsible for general fiscal and administrative tasks assigned by the Payment Manager. Examples of Essential Job Functions Accounts Payable Ensure timely processing of payments for the Insurance Benefit Management Program via expeditious telephonic payments or checks. Process entails reviewing the work queues, updating client records, identifying payments still needed for the current month or previous months, printing checks, bank drafts and wire transfers. Preparing payment documents, distributing and/or mailing payments for the Insurance Benefit Management Program. Work closely with Insurance Benefit Management Program team to ensure timely payments and proper coding of expenses. Research and resolve any discrepancies between vendors/payees and payments processed confirming amounts, dates, address, etc. Maintain AP files for the Insurance Benefit Management Program. Monthly IBM systems reconciliations to GL Respond to client and funder requests while adhering to HIPAA requirements. Monthly preparation of funder’s invoice. Other duties as assigned. Fiscal and Administrative Monitoring Assist in the annual preparation of fiscal and administrative monitoring for the Insurance Benefit Management Program Audit Assists the Payment Manager, Accounting Manager and CFO with preparation of the annual financial and compliance audit for the Insurance Benefit Management Program. Compile documentation needed for annual audits. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Advanced Excel skills required (will be tested). Use of MS Office software including Outlook, Word, etc. Possesses knowledge in general business principles, fiscal management, and accounting practices utilizing FE NXT software. Prior experience in the insurance industry preferred. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written communications. Able to manage multiple projects with committed deadlines and consistently demonstrate high attention to detail. Highly organized, comfortable following processes within a dynamic team environment. Required Educational Experience and Training Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, insurance or related field preferred. Years of advanced professional experience can substitute for degree with completed college level coursework in accounting, business or related field. Four (4) years of experience in accounting related position.
