Job Overview:
The purpose of this position is to assist in reporting the financial results of the organization in a timely fashion and in accordance with IFRS and Group accounting policies.
The candidate must have a good overall understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and internal controls and assist the team in researching the accounting treatment of various activities/programs the business is entering into and/or supporting changes to accounting guidelines/standards and their impact to MBFS financial statements.
The candidate must assist in recording and reporting financial transactions, including the origination of the transaction, its recognition, processing and summarization in the financial statements. This position would also assist the Financial Reporting team in posting various accounting transactions related to ABS debt, inter-company debt as well as financial services insurance agency and Demand Notes on an as needed basis.
The candidate must be able to multitask, communicate effectively and deal with time constraints. In addition, he/she must be able to work both in a group and independently.
Position may require ICS compliance activities as needed and the preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis, state and/or government reporting and the preparation of local financial statements.
Responsibilities:
Perform monthly close activities such as: posting accounting transactions for financial services insurance agency; hedge accounting; and/or ABS and IC debt transactions. Prepare intercompany confirmations, general ledger account analysis as well as balance sheet account reconciliations, as needed. Submit monthly/quarterly/yearly financial results through MIF, for the allocated entity under MBFS US Hub (i.e. MBFS US/Canada or MBM Mexico), to HQ including preparing and submitting secondary information supporting actuals. Respond to questions from HQ on submitted data. Produce monthly commentary analyzing the financial results of the various group segments and entities. (60%)
Assist as necessary in preparation of the regulatory and/or state reporting as well as the preparation of statutory financial statements for legal entity reporting (MBFS US/CD). Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and information gathering for external auditors (PwC), internal customers and other parties. (25%)
Assist in preparation of the following related to the Financial Reporting activities of the
Company:
Accounting research into new topics/programs or as representing FR in special projects. Preparation of ICS related controls documentation/testing during the self-assessment cycles. Coordinate with PwC (i.e. monitor progress of audit procedures and facilitate communication.) (15%)
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. This position requires a minimum of 8-10 years of overall work experience: Preferred experience includes:
Accounting
- 5-8 years of experience
Finance - 3-5 years of experience
Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred.
