GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Finance and HR Operations Specialist position reports to the Vice President for Finance and Business Administration Chief Financial Officer. This position works within the Business Office and Human Resources Office. The position assists the Business Office and the Human Resources office in the daily operations. It is responsible for gathering necessary and required information for building and processing the University’s Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS) and Traditional program’s adjunct and overload payrolls. It will serve as a backup to the Accounts Payable area and serve as coordinator for special projects for the VP of Business Administration/CFO. The Southern Wesleyan University Business Office is dedicated to supporting the University’s community and assisting in understanding and managing budgeting and financial information. The office seeks to provide leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the business and financial services necessary for Southern Wesleyan University to pursue its mission of being a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance and HR Operations Specialist position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Prepare, send and receive signed contracts for all AGS courses, and courses taught by traditional adjunct and overload faculty. Assists Human Resources in processing and reconciling monthly payrolls. Performs and processes new hire information through various agencies, such as E-Verify and SC New Hire, and performs necessary background screenings as required by the University and government agencies. Assists the Vice President for Finance and Business Administration Chief Financial Officer with special projects. Serve as back up for Accounts Payable area. Assists in maintaining Finance and Human Resources files and employee database information. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations. Onboard new employees. Serve as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator. About our ideal candidate
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree Three (3) years of payroll or similar work-related experience Knowledge of accounting principles and payroll methods Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of integrated database management systems, including reporting and data maintenance Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business-related field Considerable knowledge and experience in payroll processing, procedures, and reporting Experience in higher education accounting environment Experience in query and report writing Experience with web-based, mobile, and PC applications Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, data entry, and customer service skills Ability to work effectively in a team setting and individually with little supervision
