Description Job Summary:
The Transaction Monitoring Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Transaction Monitoring team. The team will focus on triaging AML alerts, conducting level one investigations and escalating potential laundering or fraud events to the Financial Crimes Investigations team. The Manager will be responsible for building, leading and training the team, ensuring alerts are triaged in a timely manner.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Transaction Monitoring team, ensuring timely and accurate review of alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems.
Ensure the administration, monitoring, and on-going improvement of the AML triage program in compliance with the
BSA/AML/OFAC
regulations.
Assist and coach team members to improve overall efficiency, effectiveness, and career growth.
Develop a team of highly motivated, result-oriented individuals through effective leadership practices, while ensuring adequate staffing levels to maintain efficient team performance, which includes coaching and mentoring of all analysts.
Review work in accordance with BSA/AML/OFAC, FinCEN and Evolve policies and procedures.
Adhere to defined Transaction Monitoring SLA timelines for delivery.
Analyze and prioritize suspicious activity alerts for escalation to investigators and senior management.
Detect and analyze new and existing fraud trends, and lead proactive initiatives to strengthen our existing processes and controls.
Drive process improvements to create greater effectiveness and efficiency within all areas of responsibility.
Monitor triage team workload for staffing including Peak Volume Management (PVM) – Work with outside vendor for PVM needs.
Prepare and present detailed reports on triage performance, trends, and key metrics to the Executive Team and Board of Directors, as needed.
Provide adverse action/account closure recommendations.
Lead the development of written procedures and develop processes under the guidance of the
BSA/AML/OFAC
Officer ensure completion of required tasks. May assist in the development of enterprise-wide policies, procedures and required risk assessments.
Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations that apply to your position; keep current with industry related regulations.
Follow all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (BSA/AML/OFAC).
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience in financial services leadership/management positions.
5-7 years of banking experience with an emphasis in anti-money laundering operations, OFAC operations, investigations, or consumer compliance functions.
4-6 years of demonstrated experience managing others, with preferred experience in managing
AML/BSA/OFAC
operations.
CAMS, CFE, or equivalent certification(s) or willingness to obtain certification(s).
Ability to develop and/or enhance AML operating processes to achieve high levels of effectiveness.
Key Competencies:
Thorough knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and related regulations.
Ability to explain BSA concepts with confidence such as
AML, KYC, CIP, CDD, EDD, OFAC.
Knowledge of banking products and services including those considered complex or High Risk such as Money Service Businesses (MSBs), Private ATM owners, Marijuana Related Businesses (MRBs); as well as knowledge of current and former Banking as a Service (BaaS) partners and their relevant products and services.
Ability to organize, analyze and interpret data to explain complex irregularities or trends.
Ability to develop, create and improve systems, structures, and processes.
Ability to observe strict confidentiality requirements.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex problems with minimal guidance
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective time management, planning and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently, requiring little to no prompting from leadership.
