Medical Insurance Specialist (In office position / not remote) Ocala Plastic Surgery and Dermatology 3320 SW 34th Circle, Ocala, FL 34474 Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Insurance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing insurance claims and ensuring accurate processing of medical records. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and compliance with HIPAA regulations. The Insurance Specialist will work closely with healthcare providers and patients to facilitate smooth communication regarding insurance matters. Duties Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services. Process and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner. Review medical records for completeness and accuracy in relation to coding standards (ICD-10, ICD-9). Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim discrepancies and denials. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care contracts and policies. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of patient information handling. Assist in the management of patient accounts, including billing inquiries and payment processing. Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office or dental office environment preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9). Familiarity with insurance verification processes and managed care principles. Proficient in handling medical records while adhering to confidentiality standards. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare providers.
