Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all insurance-related tasks, including verifying patient insurance coverage, tracking insurance accounts receivable, processing insurance payments, following up on active or terminated policies, and submitting insurance claims. This role ensures accurate and timely communication between the practice, patients, and insurance providers to support effective revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance coverage prior to appointments or procedures. Update and maintain accurate insurance information in patient records. Communicate coverage details, co-pays, and deductibles to staff and patients.
Accounts Receivable tracking:
Monitor insurance aging reports and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims. Identify and resolve discrepancies in payments or denials with insurance companies. Maintain accurate records of outstanding insurance balances.
Payment Processing:
Receive and post insurance payments to patient accounts. Reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) with claim submissions. Adjust accounts as necessary in compliance with contractual agreements.
Insurance Follow-ups:
Contact patients regarding active or terminated insurance coverage. Obtain updated insurance information when necessary. Educate patients on insurance requirements and coverage policies.
Claims Management:
Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims accurately and timely. Ensure proper coding and documentation accompany all submissions. Resubmit or appeal denied claims as needed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of experience with Insurance. Application Requirements (ALL
