Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Claims Team Leader to oversee a team of Aviation claims adjusters. This opportunity will be based in our O’Fallon, MO or Alpharetta, GA offices.

The Impact You Will Have :

Reporting to the Head of Aviation Claims – North America, you will join the team as an Aviation Senior Claims Team Leader, who will: Lead and manage a senior claims team and act as technical referral point for other Claims Handlers Handle complex claims, in both lead and following capacity Ensure claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims Standards procedures and guidelines. Utilize third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide a high-quality service to all internal and external customers. Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. Some of your specific responsibilities could include: Managing a team of Claims Handlers including training and mentoring of staff, managing technical referrals, and supporting Data Quality and Reporting initiatives. Invetigating and reserving of claims Investigating complex claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures. Determining appropriate reserving levels. Selecting and directing independent external service providers (e.g., Loss Adjusters). Proactively discussing and reviewing contentious claims with fellow adjusters and management to obtain opinions/feedback. Inputting and maintaining accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AzC Claims administration systems. Managing timely production of management information reports (e.g., monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends. Settling standard claims through payment or denial. Negotiating to ensure efficient and competitive settlement. Ensuring unpursued claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines. Supporting subrogation processes. Ensuring all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims Standards, procedures and guidelines. Referring cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate. Supporting establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters. Undertaking audits of external service providers as appropriate. Positively represent AzC externally to the market. Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in the Claims handling process, e.g., Underwriting, Distribution, ARC, Operations. Effectively reporting and presenting loss and claims information internally and externally. Developing and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders. What You’ll Bring to the Role 11+ years’ experience in Aviation Claims with specialized understanding of Aviation products; Experience leading and managing a team of claim handlers, including the ability to delegate tasks, steer team direction/goals, etc.; Recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market; Strong understanding of legal and regulatory framework; Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business process and decision-making is highly beneficial; Understanding of relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages; Robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance and application Robust understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g., mediation); Expert knowledge of reserving principles and practices; Ability to negotiate best position for AzC, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties; Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions (e.g., CII); Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, Insurance, or other appropriate discipline; and Completion of professional insurance qualification preferred. The annualized base pay range for this role is $112,330 – $170,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.
