Job Description
A Customer Service Professional position requiring creativity, empathy, interpersonal skills and a strong desire to assist customers. Provides prompt claim investigation, evaluation and settlement or denial of claims with moderate to highly complex exposures. Provides empathy and understanding to customers that may be upset or frustrated. Authorizes payments in accordance with assigned authority limit. Documents claim files with all pertinent information and disposition. Fully experienced claims handler. Responsible for handling claims having complex negligence, compensability, damage and coverage issues. May handle claims requiring litigation and is accumulating expertise in specified jurisdictional areas. May be required to attend mediation, hearings, settlement conferences and trials. This position can be located out of Sentry’s Davenport, IA or Goldsboro, NC office, and current AWE associates are welcome to apply under their current work model.
What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Claims Representative on our Non-Standard Auto team, you’ll ensure the delivery of quality claim service to our customers and other parties to a claim while protecting the assets of Sentry. In addition, you’ll: Investigate complex coverage issues Investigate and gather information about complex liability claims by contacting all parties involved Document all decisions, correspondences, reports, and discussions within our claims system Evaluate complex damages to make accurate determinations about exposures Frequently present findings from claim investigations and evaluations in protocols with corporate Negotiate and timely resolve claims in the best interest of our insureds, claimants, and Sentry What it
Takes:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 5+ years of related experience Thorough knowledge of insurance policies and coverages, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and familiarity with medical and legal terminology Previous insurance experience and/or coursework Possess strong analytical abilities to review, exercise judgement, and evaluate claims to make sound decisions Able to review and interpret complex and detailed documents such as contracts, medical reports, and insurance regulations Effective oral and written communication skills and human relations skills
