AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST IC
Pharmacy Fresh Meadows, NY 11366 We are looking for a committed medical assistant
WITH A BACKGROUND OF PRIOR AUTHORIZATIONS
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the prior authorization process for medications and medical treatements. Already having a background knowledge of: medical terminology, medication drug classes, ICD-10 codes, and the overall prior authorization process is essential and will make you a great fit for this position. We’re also looking for someone with strong communication skills who is comfortable speaking with patients and staff over the phone. We do offer paid training however, prior expertise is necessary to ensure that patients receive timely access to treatments while adhering to insurance guidelines and regulations.
Requirements :
Prior experience handling Prior Authorizations. Understanding of ICD-10 codes and medical terminology. Knowledge of different drug classes, their uses/indications, and a general understanding of clinical pharmacology. Previous experience in a healthcare setting as a medical assistant, particularly in roles involving medication administration, WOULD
BE HELPFUL.
Ability to understand and organize patient chart notes. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple requests efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written , for effective interaction with patients and providers. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining patient confidentiality. Able to use programs like Microsoft, Excel, Google Drive, etc. Willing to learn and help train others in a timely manner.
Duties :
Review and process prior authorization requests for medications, procedures, and services. Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary documentation. Ensure compliance with insurance policies and regulations while advocating for patient needs. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries related to authorization status and requirements. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding practices, and relevant healthcare regulations. Assist in training new staff members on prior authorization processes and best practices.
