Medical Assistant/Prior Authorization Specialist 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 2299 Route 9, Mechanicville, NY 12118 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the prior authorization process for various medical services and procedures. rooming patients, answering telephones. Your expertise will ensure that patients receive timely access to necessary care while adhering to insurance guidelines and protocols. Duties Review and process prior authorization requests for medical services, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary information for authorization. Maintain accurate records of authorization requests and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Collaborate with clinical staff to understand patient care needs and provide support in navigating insurance processes. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding requirements, and medical guidelines relevant to prior authorizations. Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and internal medicine to assess the medical necessity of requested services. Assist in resolving any issues or denials related to prior authorizations by providing additional documentation or clarification as needed. Answering phone, rooming patients and phlebotomy. Qualifications Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Excellent communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals and patients. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple requests efficiently. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment. Prior experience in a healthcare setting or similar role is advantageous.
