Prior Authorization Specialist Nashville Vascular and Vein Instititute 310 25th Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37203 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring that patients receive the necessary medical services and treatments by managing the prior authorization process effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and insurance verification, particularly within managed care environments. Duties Review and process prior authorization requests for medical procedures, tests, and medications. Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services. Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to obtain necessary information for authorization. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to prior authorizations. Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper classification of diagnoses and procedures. Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline the authorization process and resolve any issues that arise. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, managed care regulations, and relevant medical terminology. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology. Familiarity with insurance verification processes and managed care principles. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Proficient in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Previous experience handling medical records is a plus.
