Purpose of the Job The Insurance Producer is responsiblefor generating new business and expanding our insurance portfolio,covering both commercial and personal lines clients with a focus onboth Small Business and Personal Lines production. This rolerequires a solid background in insurance sales, strong networkingand relationship-building skills, and a passion for deliveringexceptional customer service. Essential Functions andResponsibilities Prospects and generates new leads through variouschannels, including cold calling, networking events, referrals, andtargeted marketing strategies, with a focus on both small businessowners and individuals. Builds and maintains relationships withbusiness owners, decision-makers, and individual clients tounderstand their insurance needs and provide tailored solutions.
Conducts thorough risk assessments for both small business andpersonal lines clients, gathering relevant information toaccurately evaluate needs and recommend comprehensive coverage.
Prepares and presents insurance proposals, explaining coverageoptions, terms, and pricing clearly for both commercial andpersonal lines clients. Works with insurance carriers to obtaincompetitive quotes and negotiate favorable terms and pricing onbehalf of clients in both commercial and personal segments. Closessales and secure new accounts across both small business andpersonal lines, meeting or exceeding sales targets and revenuegoals. Develops and implements strategic sales plans targetingspecific industries, segments, or geographic areas for businessgrowth, encompassing both small businesses and personal linesopportunities. Stays informed on industry trends, emerging risks,and regulatory changes affecting insurance in both commercial andpersonal lines, providing valuable insights and recommendations toclients. Maintains accurate client records, policy documentation,and sales activity reports in the agency management system. Worksclosely with the service team to ensure a smooth transition of newaccounts, providing ongoing support to both small business andpersonal lines clients. Fosters strong relationships with insurancecarriers, underwriters, and other industry professionals acrossboth segments to stay informed about market conditions, products,and changes in underwriting guidelines. Attends industryconferences, seminars, and training sessions to enhance knowledgeand skills in both commercial and personal lines sales.
Collaborates with marketing and business development teams tocreate and implement effective marketing strategies and campaignstargeting both small businesses and individuals. Stays informedabout competitors’ products, pricing, and sales strategies tomaintain a competitive edge in both the commercial and personallines markets. Provides exceptional customer service and support toclients throughout the sales process and beyond. Other Duties andResponsibilities Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
Performs special projects at management’s request. Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities Must have strong knowledge of both commercialand personal lines insurance products, coverages, and underwritingguidelines. Must have excellent communication and interpersonalskills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and addressunique needs. Must have strong networking and relationship-buildingskills, with the ability to engage business owners,decision-makers, and individual clients. Must be self-motivated andresults-driven, capable of working independently and as part of ateam. Must be proficient negotiation, presentation, and closingskills. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and timemanagement abilities. Must be proficient in using AMS360 CRMsoftware, Vertafore supported insurance agency management/salespipeline systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Must have a validinsurance license. Should possess a strong commitment to providingexcellent service to Truliant’s members, both internal andexternal. Physical Requirements Occasional standing, walking,bending, and stooping required. Must be able to sit at a desk formoderate periods of time and use a computer. Must be able tomoderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift ormove up to 10 pounds. Education and Background Bachelor’s degree inbusiness, finance, or a related field preferred; relevant industryexperience may be considered in place of a degree required. Minimumof 3 years of experience in insurance sales, including commercialand/or personal lines required. Proven track record of success ingenerating new business and meeting or exceeding sales targetsacross multiple insurance lines required. NC Property & Casualtyinsurance license required Professional designations such as CIC(Certified Insurance Counselor) or CISR (Certified InsuranceService Representative) are a plus.
