Position Summary Under the guidance of the Chief Underwriting Officer, the Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter supports the servicing, evaluation and quoting of insurance coverage for Property and Casualty risks in Commercial Lines. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable renewals, endorsements and quotes, while supporting relationships with agency partners. Responsibilities Process policy binds, endorsements, renewals, prepare quotes under underwriter supervision Determine risk acceptability and pricing in accordance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory compliance Respond to agent requests promptly and professionally; deliver on commitments with integrity Educate agents on risk selection philosophy and pricing parameters Conduct field visits to agent offices to build relationships and solicit new business Contribute to internal process improvement and operational efficiency Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Exposure to underwriting concepts with a desire for professional growth Proficient with Windows PC, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Skills & Attributes Strong analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team Flexible, adaptable, and able to shift between priorities quickly Willingness to contribute extra effort when needed, including working across time zones High level of confidentiality and professionalism Excellent written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented with strong data analysis and decision-making abilities Customer-focused with a positive, solution-oriented attitude Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Ability to use hands and fingers repetitively Ability to read and interpret information on computer monitors for extended periods Compensation & Benefits We offer competitive salary and benefits, including: Twelve paid holidays 12 week paid parental leave Educational allowance 4% 401K match Flexible and supportive work environment Equal Employment Opportunity Statement South Shore Insurance Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
