Full Job Description Position Summary:
Examines and makes decisions related to potential exposure/risk for new and renewing insurance contracts.
Essential Functions:
Determine degree and acceptability of insurance risk for personal lines homeowners policy applications, endorsements, and renewals by analyzing property characteristics, identifying hazards, and reviewing inspector comments as required to ensure profitable risk selection Perform due diligence by utilizing internet resources, vendor tools and claims risk alert recommendations to identify inconsistencies, review additional exposures and ensure risk selection contributes to business growth Ensure adherence to Personal Lines underwriting standards, objectives, and guidelines by processing policies in a timely and efficient manner to meet department production requirements, state regulatory requirements and agent expectations Build relationships with agents by explaining underwriting decisions to ensure understanding of Personal Lines goals and objectives
Qualifications Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED Preferred:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred:
Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) , AINS, API 3+ years relevant experience Underwriting experience in a high-production environment; increasing levels of responsibility Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Must have good computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, effectively handle and prioritize multiple projects/tasks in order to meet deadlines. Ability to work productively in a team environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Florida Insurance License (4-40) required.
