Full Job Description Summary of Role:

Responsible for decisioning consumer loan applications in a timely manner within the credit union expectations. The role involves analyzing applicant’s character, financial position, and credit to determine ability to repay. Strong focus on compliance with all state, federal, and NCUA regulations and maintaining high accuracy rating while providing exceptional service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the day-to-day underwriting decisions, evaluating loan requests to approve, deny, or send counter offers in accordance with the credit union policies, procedures, and any applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Evaluate the creditworthiness of applicants by reviewing credit reports, calculating and reviewing ratios and assessing the quality of collateral being pledged. Make credit decisions within established lending authority and recommend higher-level approvals when applicable. Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality when handling member and team member information. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to share loan decision quickly and effectively to exceed member’s expectations while protecting the credit union. Manage different workflows and queues to ensure the department’s goals are met. Actively engage in continuing education to stay up to date with the credit union’s consumer lending products, procedures and policies, as well as relevant state and federals laws and regulations. Attend meetings and training sessions as instructed. Perform additional duties as necessary to support the credit union’s core values, Mission and Vision. Promote the credit union’s sales and service philosophy by educating team members and suggesting additional products and services members can benefit from. Support the Credit Union’s culture of compliance by understanding and complying with all federal and state regulations. May perform other duties as assigned. Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this position. Education High School Diploma. Experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience in consumer loan underwriting is preferred. Experience with Loan Originating Systems (LOS) such as Meridianlink Consumer and Meridianlink Mortgage preferred. Knowledge or experience with Episys Quest (Symitar) is preferred. Skills Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Teams, Word, and Excel is required. Detail-oriented professional with high level of accuracy in reviewing loan applications to identify and correct discrepancies. Excellent critical thinking skills to review various complex financial information to make an informed credit decision. Strong multitasking skills to manage workload efficiently and meet the credit union’s expectations. Abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks within tight deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
