Job Description
THIS POSITION WILL INITIALLY BE BASED IN THE HOME OFFICE AND MAY TRANSITION TO A PERIODIC ALTERNATIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT AFTER TRAINING AND CONTINGENT UPON ONGOING JOB PERFORMANCE. DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Process existing business amendments. Enter specialized data. Communicate underwriting decisions to agents, insureds, and others in a manner which will promote positive working relationships.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
Timely completion of reports and assigned tasks Conduct and facilitate Walk a Mile and Seeing the Big Picture visits Participate in special projects & meetings Other duties as assigned by supervisor The employee must be able to organize, prioritize work and manage time wisely; must have knowledge of office administration procedures and the ability to operate most standard office equipment. The employee must pay attention to detail in composing and proofing materials. Must be self-motivated with the ability to make sound underwriting decisions and accept responsibility for those decisions. Be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention. A high level of confidentiality is to be maintained by the employee. Must have excellent people skills such as diplomacy, tact, patience, and good listening and communication skills.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
College degree; or insurance related designation required and a minimum of one year insurance experience required in underwriting, claims, or sales. Continued involvement in professional continued education preferred. Completion of Intro to Risk Management and Insurance is required within ninety days. Introduction to Risk management and Insurance will not be required if higher level courses have been completed (ex.
AINS 21/22/23
).
Language Skills:
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required. Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required.
Reasoning Skills:
Must be able to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Must possess basic skills with personal computer; experience with Windows and Microsoft Office and internet.
