- This position can be performed remotely for candidates who reside in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, or Tennessee
Essential Functions:
Completes underwriting trainings and learning courses. Shadows experienced underwriters to learn company and branch risk appetite and gain experience in developing agency relationships. Consults experienced underwriters to ask questions and gain understanding in underwriting best practices. Supports underwriting team by completing tasks, such as reviewing endorsements within authority limit and analyzing assigned new and renewal accounts Under close supervision, evaluates basic accounts for risk selection and pricing purposes within limited authority. Analyzes exposure, company and branch risk appetite, account premium and loss history, financial data, line(s) of business, price guidance, motor vehicle records, online sources of information, reports from premium audit or risk improvement and other relevant information to underwrite policies. Maintains proper file documentation in connection with accounts. Communicates with agents and provides updates on accounts. Collaborates with marketing representatives to learn about providing agents with good customer experiences, responsiveness, and ensuring they select EMC as their insurer of choice.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience Insurance designations, such as CPCU preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic knowledge of underwriting and risk analysis preferred Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions Strong customer service skills Ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently Ability to maintain high standards of professional competence Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines Good written and verbal communication skills The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $50,073
- 68,995 range or the $55,191
- 76,061 range.
