Great American Professional RiskInsurance Services (GAPRIS) provides specialized umbrella andexcess liability coverages for medium to Fortune 500-size companiesin need of high coverage limits for casualty exposures by utilizingthe varied capabilities within Great American Insurance Group onboth an admitted and non-admitted basis.

We are currently searchingfor an AVP of Excess Casualty Underwriting & Business Development.

This position will manage a national territory and haveresponsibility for premium growth. In addition, this position willbe responsible for managing an existing book of complex excesscasualty and umbrella business. This role is hybrid reporting intoour Charlotte, NC office and requires occasional overnighttravel.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Hasresponsibility for managing a book of complex excess casualty andumbrella business, including:

Develops a marketing plan for book ofbusiness, taking into consideration the strengths and weaknesses ofcompetitors, divisional objectives, and overall marketconditions.

Prospects and manages relationships to achieveproduction and profitability objectives.

Acts as a liaison betweencompany and client/broker in solving problems.

Markets and providesstrategic training on company products and services to existing andprospective brokers.

Interprets, explains, and educates on productsand forms.

Gathers, analyzes, and maintains competitive information.

Makes appropriate recommendations based on competitive landscapeand industry trends.

Has responsibility for evaluating and managinglarge volume of submissions effectively.

Ensures the delivery,follow-up, and servicing requirements of all quotes on new andrenewal accounts.

Provides appropriate recommendations on accountsbased on management and underwriting guidelines.

Maintains a highlevel of customer service.

Has responsibility for building andmaintaining effective business relationships with internal andexternal customers/coworkers to attract and retain profitablebusiness.

Ensures consistency across the team when communicatingwith/responding to producers and brokers.

Administers and appliesinsurance laws and regulations and as appropriate, underwritingrules, guidelines, and rating manual rules.

Performs other duties asassigned.

Qualifications:

Prior underwriting experience in casualty,umbrella or excess lines required.

Experience in construction,manufacturing, transportation classes of business preferred.

CRIS,MRIS, TRIP, CPCU, ARM, or other insurance designations are aplus.

Prior experience establishing, building, and managing retailbroker relationships preferred.

Excellent communication,interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills necessary tobuild trusting relationships and enhance service reputationrequired.

Strong analytical, decision making, and problem resolutionskills required.

Ability for occasional day and overnight travel tovisit clients and brokers required.

Bachelor’s degreepreferred.
