Job Description

This position is onsite, five days a week

Overview:

Assists management in the supervision of less experienced staff. Evaluates and determines the credit risks of largest dollar amount MTEFC (M&T Equipment Finance Corporation) loan and lease customers through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis, and ability to repay annual debt service.

Primary Responsibilities:

Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information for MTEFC (M&T Equipment Finance Corporation) loan and lease customers seeking largest and/or most complex equipment finance loans and leases. Make decisions on loan and lease requests within assigned authority. Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information from Sales or the customer. Based on analyses, prepare summary, present facts, and offer opinions concerning creditworthiness of the customer following prescribed procedures. Assign an overall risk rating to the credit request. Assist in monitoring compliance to credit policy; comment on risks associated with non-compliance and inform management. Develop credit analyses for use by lenders in making lending decisions on new credit approvals and renewals. Provide guidance, training, and assistance to less experienced analysts; provide assistance to management. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software programs Strong analytical skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Credit training Strong verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with pertinent Bank systems Proficient in MTEFC Credit Analyst I and II level jobs
