Job Description:

Zurich is currently looking for an experienced Loss SensitiveCasualty Underwriter to join our Middle Market Complex CasualtyUnderwriting team in NYC. We are looking for someone withestablished broker relationships in the New York Metro area. Thisis a technical and market facing role working with our complex/losssensitive casualty products and is a great opportunity to join anexpanding team. While this position will be based out of our NYCoffice location, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybridbasis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible workschedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers andagents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplaceto meet with our agents and brokers on a regular schedule. Thisrole will be filled at either the Senior or AVP underwriting level.

The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based uponthe selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to thequalifications listed for this position. Our Underwriters aremarket-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth andsuperior service to our broker partners and customers and areresponsible for:

• Generating, underwriting, and analyzing domesticComplex and Loss Sensitive Casualty business
• Market facing andproduction activities
• Complying with underwriting rules andguidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
• Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments

Senior Loss Sensitive Underwriter Qualifications:

• High SchoolDiploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in theUnderwriting or Brokerage or Market Facing area OR
• High SchoolDiploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in theClaims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified InsuranceApprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years ofexperience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• ZurichCertified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Supportarea AND
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience working ontime restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experienceworking in a team environment

OR AVP Loss Sensitive UnderwriterQualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or moreyears of experience in the Underwriting or Brokerage or MarketFacing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or moreyears of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degreeand 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or MarketFacing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including anAssociate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claimsor Underwriting Support area AND
• Experience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications (Senior/AVP Level):
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Knowledge of Domestic Complex Casualty Products
• Ability toeffectively assess risk
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong brokerrelationships within the region
• Superior skills in relationshipbuilding, active listening, needs analysis, and win-winnegotiation.
• Possess a high level of customer service by meetingor exceeding broker and or customer expectations with respect torequired deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communicationskills
• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques,national/local filing regulations and guidelines At Zurich,compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors,including but not limited to the specific office location, role,skill set, and level of experience.

• $170,000.00, with short-term incentive bonuseligibility set at 15%. For the AVP is $172,000.00
