Job Description
Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Commercial Underwriter to join our dynamic team on a remote basis. The Commercial Underwriter will play a key role in evaluating and assessing risks for businesses seeking insurance products or financial services. This professional will work closely with agents, brokers, and clients to ensure sound underwriting decisions while aligning with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and assess risk levels to determine appropriate premiums, coverage limits, terms, or potential loan amounts.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information and provide underwriting guidance or recommendations.
- Create accurate and detailed reports documenting risk assessments, decisions, and policy structures.
- Ensure compliance with company underwriting policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of commercial accounts for renewals and policy modifications, performing ongoing risk evaluations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to promote client satisfaction and business growth.
- Identify emerging risks or industry trends that may affect underwriting decisions and make recommendations to leadership.
- Support internal teams by providing expertise and training on underwriting processes, tools, and risk evaluation methods. Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, commercial underwriting, or a related field.
- Proficiency with business systems and analytics tools, including Crystal Reports and CRM platforms.
- Strong understanding of accounting functions, auditing practices, and budget management.
- Expertise in data mining techniques and interpreting complex financial data.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using collaboration tools such as Confluence to streamline workflows.
