Overview:

Join TTX Company as an Asset Disposal Assistant Manager, where you’ll play a crucial role in optimizing cash recovery from surplus and retiring railcars while efficiently salvaging materials. You’ll ensure the disposition of general scrap and excess/obsolete materials at TTX car repair locations without negatively affecting field operations. You’ll be responsible for managing the disposition of surplus and retired assets held by the FMO organization.

Responsibilities:
Contract Management:

Assist in negotiating, drafting, updating, and maintaining railcar scrap, railcar sales, and general scrap contracts.

Cash Recovery:

Optimize cash recovery from scrap generated by company maintenance activities and maximize revenue from the retirement of over-age, surplus, or otherwise approved rolling stock.

Compliance:

Conduct all activities in full compliance with company policies and procedures.

Material Coordination:

Coordinate the return of reclaimable material from retired railcars and manage the disposition of excess and obsolete material, including site audits of scrap dealers and coordinating casting inspections.

Liaison:

Act as the liaison between Equipment, Supply Chain, and Scrap Dealers regarding safety issues and the proper handling of reclaimable parts.

Marketing and Sales:

Develop and maintain marketing and sales channels for rolling stock sales growth.

Customer Relations:

Manage customer relations with existing and potential railcar buyers.

Policy Development:

Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to asset disposition, ensuring proper controls are in place.

Special Projects:

Support the Manager Asset Disposal in achieving departmental goals by completing special projects as requested.

Scrap Campaigns:

Identify potential scrap cars, compile financial worksheets for senior management approvals, and maintain scrap campaigns.

Timely Disposal:

Ensure the timely disposal of surplus assets within the FMO network, aligning with the vision of maximizing revenue and supporting the FMO network.

Reporting:

Prepare reports related to retired railcars, miscellaneous scrap revenue, and other asset disposal activities.

Qualifications:
Education:

Four-year college or university degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, or Engineering.

Technical Skills:

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and similar computer software. Ability to learn other software for developing statistics and documentation.

Analytical Skills:

Ability to organize and prepare numerical-based information into actionable reports and presentations.

Experience:

Three or more years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Documentation:

Ability to develop, read, edit, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Communication:

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Interpersonal Skills:

Professional demeanor required to represent a positive image of TTX to internal and external parties.

Negotiation:

Proven ability to negotiate and respectfully defend the interests of TTX.

Adaptability:

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with various priorities and strong ability to prioritize based on department goals and strategy.

Follow-Through:

Strong follow-through skills.

Work Arrangement:

This is a hybrid position, with in-office work required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at our headquarters in the South End of Charlotte.
