The ideal candidate will be responsible for underwriting all loans to ensure compliance with secondary market, Federal, State and Bank lending guidelines. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles, risk assessment, and the ability to make informed decisions regarding loan approvals. Responsibilities Underwrites residential mortgage loans. Maintains knowledge of private mortgage insurance, secondary market and bank guidelines, LS, Freddiemac Systems, and other underwriting systems. Ensure HMDA compliance on all loans Reviews final figures to ensure compliance and accuracy. Provides customer service and responds to inquiries from customers, real estate brokers, attorneys and vendors. Processing tasks related to processing all types of loan applications including ordering appraisals, title, credit report, plot plan, flood certificate; verify income and assets, disclosure preparation, etc. Prepares loan documents for in-house closing. Position requires obtaining a unique identifier to be used on all Mortgage documents originated by the employee and maintaining registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Registry System (NMLS). Qualifications Proven experience in mortgage underwriting or related fields such as loan processing or technical accounting. Strong knowledge of financial software tools used in underwriting processes. Proficiency in cash flow analysis, risk analysis, and portfolio management techniques. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.
