Shallotte, NC areaCorning Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer II to join our Real Estate Services Team.

Role Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Officer II works to secure CCU’s position as a mortgage leader within the marketplace and assists members in identifying and qualifying for a mortgage loan product that meets their financial needs while also ensuring sound lending decisions for the Credit Union.

Essential Job Duties

  • Is highly knowledgeable regarding all applicable regulations and ensures adherence to Fair Lending requirements
  • Interviews loan applicants and assists members with the loan application process
  • Evaluates member’s financial needs, identifies special loan requirements, and makes sound loan decisions when determining if the member is a candidate for approval
  • Conducts member education and assists the members in selecting the right product for their needs
  • Is creative in evaluating and offering alternative options if the member is unable to assume the mortgage requested
  • Executes accurate calculations and disclosures
  • Strong selling skills. Able to recognize opportunities that benefit the member and the credit union
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Freddie Mac and how it relates to the Mortgage industry
  • Must have detailed knowledge of the Credit Union mortgage products and a general understanding of competitor products and how they compare to each other
  • Builds and maintains strong realtor relationships and attends outside events and functions, as needed, in order to grow the business and secure our reputation within the marketplace
  • Also possesses detailed knowledge in a specialized area of mortgages such as; construction, investment, or first time home buyer
  • Also assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned.

  • Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to communicate openly with members, even in adverse conditions and negative situations
  • Displays attention to detail and is accurate in their work
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and is adept at keeping the application and pipeline moving as expediently as possible
  • Able to work independently and with little direct supervision
  • Adapts easily and learns quickly
  • Has a detailed understanding of all credit union procedures and policies
  • Must be extremely organized and precise
  • Possesses solid computer skills and is experienced with various Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Strong knowledge of Excel capabilities required.

Education Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in business or finance or commensurate work experience required.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years of prior mortgage experience requiredCommunication Skills Requirements
  • The ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence
  • The ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards
  • The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
