We are looking for a loan officer to evaluate and underwrite loan applications for people or for business and present them to a loan review committee for approval. You will act as liaison between customers and our organization and you will help qualified applicants acquire loans in a timely manner. Company Culture We are a non-profit loan fund with $26 million in assets that works within Allegheny County. We work with diverse group of customers, including small businesses, individual entrepreneurs, and neighborhood based organizations. We provide loans to business start ups, existing small businesses, community service organizations, real estate developers focusing on affordable housing or commercial district revitalization. Responsibilities Evaluate credit worthiness by processing loan applications and documentation within specified limits Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans Determine all applicable ratios and metrics and set up debt payment plans Communicate with clients either to request or to provide information Present underwritten business loans to our Loan Review Committee for credit decision. Communicate credit decisions (approvals/rejections) to loan applicants Complete loan contracts and counsel clients on policies and restrictions Update job knowledge on types of loans and other financial services Maintain and update account records Assess customer needs, explore all options and introduce different types of loans Develop referral networks, suggest alternate channels and cross-sell products and services to accomplish quotas Go the “extra mile” to build trust relationships, customer loyalty and satisfaction throughout the underwriting process Operate in compliance with laws and regulations and adhere to lending compliance guidelines Work with Assistant Loan Officer to collect information (order credit reports, collect tax and personal financial statements, and other supporting application material. Work with Assistant Loan Officer and closing attorney to close loans Market loan products to eligible applicants through social media, seminars, printed materials, sales calls and other methods Respond to pre-application inquires Assess eligibility and technical assistance needs of potential applicants and make appropriate referrals Educate eligible applicants on Loan Product requirements, application and process so as to encourage complete and competitive loan applications Required Skills 2-3 years of experience in a loan origination role Familiarity with business lending practices and procedures Ability to understand business financial statements and tax returns Familiarity with computers and lending applications/software Solid understanding of direct/indirect lending products and practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Customer satisfaction orientation and sales competencies Ability to work in a goal oriented environment Self-motivated and highly organized to identify, develop and maintain a quality network of business relationship A critical thinker and can analyze financial and credit data to advise clients of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. Has strong written and verbal communications skills. Understands how to manage a pipeline effectively. Is able to prioritize multiple competing tasks. Demonstrates a commitment to professional ethics, as well as complying with all federal and state compliance policies adhering to Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) requirements. Desired Skills Experience with SBA Micro Loan Programs Strong computer skills including Microsoft applications and previous experience using laptop technology. Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge in analyzing and comprehending complex financial data and providing financial alternatives. Professional and effective interpersonal skills. BS degree in finance, economics or a related field Hours/Shift This is a professional position that works 40 hours per week. Regular business hours are 9 AM – 5 PM, but hours are flexible, as the loan officer meets with some customers after normal office hours on some occasions.
