Mortgage Loan Underwriter Find Great People Lexington, SC 29072 Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and assessing loan applications to determine the risk involved in lending money. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, risk analysis, and underwriting processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Mortgage Underwriter will play a crucial role in facilitating the loan approval process while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. Duties Underwrite residential mortgage loans (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA) Review and analyze loan applications, credit reports, and financial statements to assess borrower eligibility. Conduct thorough risk analysis to evaluate the potential risks associated with each loan application. Prepare detailed financial reports and forecasts based on the analysis of borrower information. Collaborate with Mortgage Processing, Closing, and Credit Administration teams. Make informed decisions regarding loan approvals or denials based on established underwriting guidelines. Communicate effectively with borrowers, lenders, and other stakeholders regarding underwriting decisions and requirements. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mortgage underwriting. Provide support for mortgage servicing activities as needed. Qualifications Recent mortgage underwriting experience required. FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR) required. State Housing loans (preferred) Experience underwriting loans with complex tax returns.(preferred) Must undergo Background and Credit Check #
