Loan Origination Specialist III South Georgia Banking Company 725 West 2nd Street, Tifton, GA 31794 Loan Origination Specialist III The Loan Origination Specialist III is a senior-level role responsible for providing advanced administrative and technical assistance to loan officers and lending managers. The position requires a strong understanding of loan documentation, regulatory requirements, and lending procedures. This role may involve mentoring junior staff, acting as a liaison with clients and external partners and managing complex loan files with minimal supervision. A Loan Origination Specialist III possesses strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Assist loan officers with processing loan applications, disclosures, and documentation. Gather and verify applicant information, including financial statements, tax returns, paystubs and other relevant documents. Independently prepare and process complex commercial, agricultural, consumer, or mortgage loan documentation. Perform advanced loan servicing activities, including renewals, modifications, and collateral documentation. Input and update borrower information in the loan origination system (i.e. groups, proposed loan, & collateral), ensuring accuracy and completeness of data. Communicate with borrowers to request additional documentation, provide status updates, and address inquires throughout the loan process. Initiates Title work with Attorney and follows up to collect preliminary & final title. Follows up with attorney as needed for recorded documents processed through the attorney’s office. Engages appraisal department on new or updated appraisal request. Engages insurance agents for insurance verification. Prepare loan files for underwriting review, including organizing documents, verifying information, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations and company policies. Reviews loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to lending guidelines. Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Maintains a strong working knowledge of collateral documents and reviews to ensure the bank is protected and securitized. Processes loan documentation in Abrigo and assembling documentation for loans in accordance with bank policies and procedures. Prepare loan documentation in Laser Pro. Monitor loan pipelines and deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to closing schedule. Provide administrative support to the loan department, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining files and records. Pulls Credit Bureau Report and Flood Determination, as needed. Collects and updates loan tracking information in Abrigo. Coordinates loan closings with attorneys/customers. Processes monies due/collected at loan closing (posts to appropriate GL) to include cutting checks for loan proceeds or direct deposit. Knowledge and understanding of company documentation and requirements. Knowledge and understanding of appraisals, appraisal guidelines, title work, flood determinations, etc. Maintain an overall knowledge of the bank’s products and services. Input and Review Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Data; Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) data and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) data in Abrigo and Laser Pro. Ensure full compliance with Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act). Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for Loan Origination Specialist I and II. Processes customer mail payments. Processes customer Line of Credit advances as approved by Lender. Scans documents into our loan imaging system to include financial information, loan applications, and signed loan packages. Process paid out loans and release of collateral within 30 days of loan paying out. Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements and operational efficiencies. Prepare and distribute loan reports for management and regulatory purposes Handle escalated customer or system issues in coordination with lending officers and IT or compliance staff. Maintain high standards of confidentiality and accuracy in all aspects of loan processing Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education and/or Experience Associate degree or equivalent experience in finance, business administration, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in loan processing, mortgage lending or a related role banking experience. Strong understanding of lending regulation and loan types (consumer, commercial, agriculture, real estate, etc) Proficient in loan origination systems, document preparation platforms (Abrigo and Laser Pro) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive customer interactions professionally. Detailed-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in completing tasks. Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving and task management. Customer service-oriented mindset with a dedication to delivering a positive experience to borrowers and colleagues.
