The Night Auditor is responsible for attending to the needs of guests, balancing the revenue and expense transactions that occurred during the day, and performing all of the functions of the front desk staff during the audit shift. The NightAuditor will possess good communications and guest service skills and have the ability to take appropriate action to meet and exceed guest expectations. Qualifications (Essential): High school graduate. Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations. Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests/visitors, management and co-workers to their understanding, both in person and by telephone. Ability to provide legible communication and directions. Qualifications (Desired): Some college Previous guest relations training. FOSSE experience, preferred.
Skills:
Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to promote positive relations with all individuals who approach the Front Desk and by telephone. Ability to focus on guests’ needs, remaining calm and courteous. Ability to sell available rooms, and input and access information into hotel systems. Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guests.
Standard Requirements:

Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: a. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. b. Confidentiality of all data, including guest, employee and operations data. c. Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements. d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior. 4. Supports and participates in common teamwork: a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or guests regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns. d. Promotes positive public relations with guests and employees. e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
(Include the following. Other job related duties may be assigned.) Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations. Handle incoming phone inquiries and accurately takes reservations. Balance end-of-shift work and cash drawer. Understand and observes the hotel’s key control procedures. Act as night manager on duty for the overnight shift. Register guests into hotel rooms according to procedures and policies. Adhere to guest room key control procedures. Adhere to hotel credit policies and procedures, including credit card authorization, direct bill accounts, check-cashing, cash-payment guests, telephone deposits, etc. Balance, investigate, analyze and correct any out-of-balance accounts involving all vouchers, charges accurately. Verify accuracy of all allowances, corrections and miscellaneous vouchers. Balance all credit card transactions. Prepare and transmit credit card deposits. Verify all in-house and closed accounts for accuracy. Validate all rates and posts room and tax and open the new business day. Conduct all steps in the property management night audit system to close the current business day and open the new business day. Prepare daily operational reports as required. Complete necessary functions of call accounting system. Adhere to hotel mail, package and message handling procedures. Process guest payments and check-outs within hotel and company policies and procedures. Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Keep bank secure at all times. Process all guest check-ins according to established hotel requirements. Manage guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Generate, print and distribute daily reports to designated departments/personnel.
Secondary Functions:
Phone switchboard duties. Assist with Reservations calls. Provide Concierge service Assist in other Front Office and Accounting job functions as assigned. Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and follow established hotel procedures for relaying information to other departments.
