Position Summary:
The Payroll Manager will play a critical role in payroll processing and compliance while supporting the broader human resources function. This hands-on position ensures payroll administration aligns with state and federal regulations and requires a strong understanding of HR processes and policies. As a key member of the HR team, you will contribute to the organization’s success by maintaining payroll compliance and supporting HR initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
The following duties are descriptive in nature and may include additional responsibilities as needed. 1. Payroll Management Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of federal and state payroll standards, legislation, and best practices. Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing each pay period. Maintain compliance with applicable laws, payroll tax obligations, unemployment requirements, and internal policies. Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll-related inquiries and concerns, providing training to managers and HR team members on the effective use of UKG and timecard processing. 2. HR Support Offer guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and programs. Address employee questions related to payroll, benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, and other HR-related topics. Support the administration of HR initiatives, including performance management, employee engagement, and training programs. 3. Compliance Ensure adherence to local labor laws, regulations, and company policies. Stay informed about evolving HR and payroll legal requirements, making recommendations to maintain compliance. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies that promote a fair, inclusive, and compliant work environment. 4. HR Administration Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records with a high level of data integrity. Manage HR-related documentation, such as employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluations. Assist in generating and maintaining HR metrics and reports to support data-driven decision-making. 5. HR Projects Participate in cross-functional HR initiatives, including employee engagement surveys, policy updates, and diversity and inclusion efforts. Drive continuous improvement in HR processes and systems to enhance the employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll accurately and on time for each pay period. Ensure compliance with payroll-related laws, tax obligations, and company policies. Manage updates and changes to payroll records, such as new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments, while maintaining confidentiality. Oversee the configuration and maintenance of Payroll and HRIS systems to ensure accurate operation. Apply thorough knowledge of HR and Payroll policies to ensure transactions and records meet compliance standards. Collaborate with auditors and handle payroll tax audits effectively. Provide accurate payroll and HR data to support HR and accounting teams. Maintain accurate personnel records and prepare required reports, utilizing HRIS systems as needed. Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues promptly. Manage both digital and manual personnel record systems. Track department KPIs and metrics, preparing periodic reports and summaries. Perform additional duties as required to support department goals. All Employees have the following compliance obligations: Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Product Compliance Policy. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations and market demands. Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System. Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
Requirements:
Proven experience managing and processing all aspects of bi-weekly payroll with 400+ employees using UKG is mandatory. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. At least 3 years of multi-state payroll processing experience is required. CPP certification is highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll standards, legislation, and best practices. Highly organized and action-oriented with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with HR policies, procedures, and employment laws. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Experience working with HRIS systems.
