Key Objective(s): The main purpose of the Payroll & HRIS Manager is: Responsible for providing management for the human resources information system (HRIS) and overseeing payroll operations within the organization. Focusing on functions that will identify opportunities to affect business results and changes positively and efficiently to processes and support strategic initiatives of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Researches, implements, maintains, and operates the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) within the organization. Ensures security of system and confidentiality of employee records. Writes, generates, and maintains standard and custom reports used by the organization. Obtain necessary information to prepare compensation proposals and budgets. Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Trains on, manages and updates changes and additions to the HRIS system and the various modules that impact corresponding departments within the organization. Ensures compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. Tracks trends and developments in assigned functional areas. Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles. Identify recommendations to scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures. Stays updated and informed of current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data. Oversees the payroll mailbox to serve as a resource for employees with questions related to payroll, leave accruals, wage deductions, fringe benefits, and other pay related issues. Works with Benefits to coordinate leaves of absence under FMLA, Medical or other unpaid leaves Reconciles the 401k plan and payments to vendor. Assist with unemployment claims and verifications forms as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role with responsibility for HRIS, compensation and analytics. Demonstrated working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce, and other comparable systems. 7+ years of experience with payroll including some management experience. Knowledge of general compensation/business principles. Project management skills with an emphasis on process improvement. Ability to multitask to work on many projects at once. Ability to make impartial decisions and maintain a positive work environment. Must have mathematical ability to maintain and comment upon budget information. Must be analytical to determine the most efficient methods of staffing.
