Full-time Reports to: Controller Purpose The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and processing the company’s payroll functions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in ADP, possess a strong understanding of payroll best practices, and bring a strategic and detail-oriented mindset to help scale payroll operations in alignment with our company’s growth. Responsibilities Manages and processes bi-weekly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now (or other payroll processing platform) for multi-state employees. Maintains payroll-related records and documentation in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. Works closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure maintenance and alignment on employee data, benefits, time tracking, and other payroll-impacting items. Reconciles payroll accounts and assists with month-end closing, audits, and year-end reporting (W-2, 941s, etc.). Stays current on federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Leads payroll system improvements and process automation initiatives within ADP to support scalability. Provides support and guidance on payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Oversees payroll tax filings and liaise with external payroll tax vendors or ADP support as needed. Provides oversight to Payroll team. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, HR, or related field or equivalent experience. A minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience, including 2+ years in a managerial or lead role Strong proficiency with ADP systems, especially ADP Workforce Now; ADP implementation or optimization experience a plus. Experience using MS Office Suite. Comprehensive understanding of payroll laws and best practices, including multi-state payroll. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a scaling or high-growth environment strongly preferred. Work Environment This position operates in a home or professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and finger to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data.
