Job Description

deciBel Research, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Payroll Administrator in Huntsville, AL.

Position Description:

deciBel Research, Inc. is seeking an experienced part-time Payroll Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll and compiling payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records. Processes employee status changes, processes and analyzes payroll and employee expenses. Reconciles general ledger accounts and creates on-going month-end, quarterly, and year-end journal entries and organization reports. Audits payroll information for accuracy. Reconciles payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions. Participates in problem solving and special projects within the Payroll Department. Prepares responses to notices from government agencies regarding employee tax filings. Ensures that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies. Performs actions necessary to track and determine regular pay, overtime pay and bonuses. Processes Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, insurance, benefits, 401(k) contributions, and company match. Reconciles errors and maintains payroll records. Reviews and processes payroll adjustments, including vacation, sick, and other time off. Processes garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, quarterly tax verifications, and worker compensation reports. Performs year end responsibilities to include W-2 verification and distribution. Fields and responds to payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies as required. Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices. Works with Human Resources during New Hire Orientation. Sets up new employees and accounting system and conducts payroll orientation on day of hire. Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance required, Accounting Degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

Three + years in a payroll office performing all payroll functions. Experience using ADP Payroll. Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

Special Skills Desired:

Experience using Unanet timekeeping system Must be a U.S. Citizen.
