Summary:
LiveRamp is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. This crucial role is responsible for the complete end-to-end semi-monthly processing of company payroll using both Workday Payroll and ADP platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and relevant regulations, ensuring the accurate and timely disbursement of employee compensation. This individual will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing payroll, taxation, and reporting. Furthermore, the Payroll Specialist will serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, providing exceptional customer service and fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Payroll Processing:
Execute the full cycle of semi-monthly payroll processing. This includes the accurate input, review, and validation of employee data, such as new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit deductions within both Workday Payroll and ADP systems. Accuracy in
Calculations:
Diligently ensure the precise calculation of gross wages, various pre-tax and post-tax deductions (including but not limited to health insurance premiums, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other voluntary deductions), and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
Discrepancy Resolution and Issue Management:
Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve any payroll discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in a timely and efficient manner. This involves collaborating with employees, HR, and other relevant departments to gather necessary information and implement corrective actions.
Meticulous Record Keeping:
Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date payroll records in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements. This includes organizing and archiving payroll documentation, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Report Generation and Analysis:
Generate a variety of standard and ad-hoc payroll reports using Workday and ADP reporting functionalities for management review, finance reconciliation, and other internal stakeholders. Analyze payroll data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for process improvement.
Employee Inquiry Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee inquiries related to payroll, including questions about paychecks, deductions, tax forms (W-2), and payroll policies. Provide clear, concise, and professional responses, ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction.
Continuous Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of all changes and updates in federal, state, and local payroll laws, regulations, and best practices. Implement necessary updates to payroll processes and systems to ensure ongoing compliance and mitigate potential risks.
Audit and Compliance Support:
Actively participate in internal and external audits of payroll processes and records. Prepare requested documentation and assist in the implementation of audit recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with the Human Resources department on employee-related data changes, benefit administration, and other payroll-impacting activities. Partner with the Finance department for general ledger reconciliation, payroll account analysis, and other financial reporting requirements.
System Implementation and Maintenance Support:
Provide support for the implementation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of payroll systems, including testing system changes and enhancements. Contribute to the development and documentation of payroll procedures and workflows.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field is strongly preferred, demonstrating a foundational understanding of financial and business principles. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in hands-on payroll processing is required, showcasing a proven track record in managing complex payroll cycles. Expert-level proficiency in both Workday Payroll and ADP payroll processing systems is absolutely essential. Candidates must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of all functionalities within these platforms. A comprehensive and in-depth understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including wage and hour laws, tax withholding requirements, and reporting obligations, is critical. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues. Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are paramount in ensuring the integrity of payroll data and calculations. Proven ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information is required, adhering to all privacy regulations and company policies. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively interacting with employees, management, and external stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Google Office Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including advanced formulas and data manipulation), Word, and PowerPoint, is expected for reporting, analysis, and documentation purposes.
Experience Requirements:
Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of the semi-monthly payroll cycle, from data input to final disbursement and reporting, with a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in Payroll Processing. Candidates must have at least 2+ years of hands-on experience utilizing Workday Payroll for core payroll processing functions, reporting, and system maintenance. Experience with configuration and implementation aspects is a plus. Practical experience utilizing ADP payroll platforms (e.g., Workforce Now, TotalSource) for payroll processing, tax filing, and reporting with a minimum of 2+ years is also required. Familiarity with various ADP modules and functionalities is preferred. The approximate annual base compensation range is $65,000 to $77,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, geography, as well as internal equity among our team.
