Job Description:
Strategic Direction:
Develops and implements strategic plans for the team in alignment with CFO Division strategic goals
Makes informed business decisions
Customer Relations:
Manages daily interactions with departments and personnel regarding their payroll questions
Maintains collaborative relationships with key University, State, and Federal Agency stakeholders and colleagues to enhance relations and engagement through the distribution of clear and consistent communications
Communicates clearly with diplomacy and discretion
Leadership
Provides guidance and support for the payroll team
Proactively analyzes current processes, recommends solutions to leadership, and supports implementation
Data Reporting
Provides responses to various requests for payroll and tax data
Special Projects:
Other duties as assigned by the department leadership
Expected Salary:
$120,000 – $125,000
Minimum Requirements:
A Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.
Preferred:
Extensive knowledge of the payroll rules and regulations in addition to the human resource rules and policies as they affect payroll processing and payment functions and payroll accounting entries. A thorough understanding of the accounting systems, payroll tax withholding, and tax reporting requirements.
Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with others; to understand, interpret, and applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; to analyze and solve problems, interpret and recommend solutions or changes; to effectively communicate in writing and orally; to work with limited supervision; to be reliable, and to work both in a team and independently, proficient in Microsoft Office.
