Payroll Specialist III Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Payroll Specialist III who can work EST hours. This is a virtual position with an 8-hour shift, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience processing payroll for 5000+ employees. Responsibilities Perform all duties of a Payroll Analyst III as business needs and workload dictate. Supervise all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintaining related records and processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments. Prepare accounting transactions and documents, and special reports for senior management. Maintain payroll-related accounts and manage the funding and disbursement of funds through third-party vendors. Administer 401(k) plan contributions and disbursements. Prepare various accounting papers, schedules, exhibits, and summaries. Ensure accuracy and manage executive compensation transactions in partnership with the compensation team. Provide policy information and employee-specific data to employees in a customer service capacity. Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors. Conduct payroll staff, employee, and manager training and education in formal and casual settings. Interact with internal department representatives to resolve issues and ensure processes and data exchanges are clear. Contribute towards setting performance standards, financial controls, and processes for the group. Recommend process improvements to support efficiencies and customer experience. Monitor industry trends, products, and information, and recommend improvements and enhancements to the department. Provide input, evaluation, and assessment of performance of other payroll staff. Administer the company’s payroll system and associated interfaces/data feeds/connections to other systems critical to the accurate processing of payroll and reporting. Develop testing scenarios and reports to assist in establishing new processes or configurations within the Workday environment. Essential Skills 5+ years of high-volume payroll experience, particularly with 5000+ employees. Experience with payroll processing, payroll accounting, payroll software, and payroll benefits. Proficiency in Workday and multistate payroll processing. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with large ERP systems. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree preferred. Experience with BOTs/automations and report writing. Ability to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways. Good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Experience interacting with senior internal and external personnel.
