Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, including commissions, deductions, garnishments, and tax compliance. This role requires attention to detail, discretion in handling sensitive payroll information, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. A successful candidate in this role will have strong payroll processing experience, a keen eye for accuracy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate understands payroll compliance, tax regulations, and commission structures and is committed to continuous improvement in payroll processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain and oversee timekeeping records for all employees, ensuring accurate tracking of regular hours, overtime, paid time off (PTO), and unpaid leave. Review and verify time entries for discrepancies, missing punches or incorrect data. Work closely with employees to resolve timekeeping issues. Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and payroll deadlines. Generate timekeeping reports for payroll processing and compliance audits. Total and transfer payroll data into payroll spreadsheets for review. Review and submit payroll on schedule, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws. Process one-off deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments in ADP. Distribute W-2s and assist employees with payroll and tax-related questions. Build and update commission sheets based on company pay structures. Review commissionable jobs for accuracy, including splits, materials, and adjustments. Enter Technician Sales and Performance data and distribute weekly sales totals report. Set up and manage garnishments and child support orders in the payroll system. Respond to garnishment orders and process required payments. Add, update and adjust payroll deductions as needed. Establish payroll tax accounts, workers’ compensation, and unemployment insurance in new states as needed. Ensure payroll tax filing and payments are accurate and timely. Stay up to date with payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations and other compliance requirements. Assist with payroll audits and reporting requirements. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, earnings, deductions, and direct deposits. Maintain payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with record-keeping requirements. Generate payroll reports and reconcile payroll transactions. Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2 distribution and reporting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll and timekeeping. Knowledge of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements. Experience with timekeeping and payroll processing systems (preferable ADP Workforce Now). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll spreadsheet management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. 2+ years of payroll and timekeeping experience, preferably in ADP Workforce Now or a similar payroll system. Previous experience processing payroll in a multi-state environment is a plus.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Must have reliable transportation to and from work, and for occasional local travel as needed.
Compensation:
$18.00 – $25.00 per hour

Travel:
Local travel within a 5-mile radius for business-related errands may be required at times, but will be rare. Employees who utilize their personal vehicle for business-related travel are reimbursed for mileage at the current year’s IRS mileage rate.
