Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Payroll Specialist to join our team full-time in an on-site position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in processing manual payroll for a multi-location workforce, prevailing wage compliance, and certified payroll reporting. This is a hands-on role requiring proactive communication, time management, and technical proficiency in payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Process manual payroll for 90-100 employees across multiple job sites Ensure accurate calculations with multiple pay rates and job classifications Comply with federal and state prevailing wage laws Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in a timely manner Respond to employee payroll questions and requests efficiently Maintain up-to-date payroll records and ensure proper documentation Coordinate with HR and job site managers to collect necessary payroll data Utilize Paychex and QuickBooks to manage payroll processing and reporting Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state tax agencies, including accurate processing of tax withholdings, garnishments, child support orders, and other deductions
Requirements:
3+ years of payroll experience in a construction environment Proficient in Paychex and QuickBooks Strong knowledge of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll procedures Experience managing payroll for multiple locations and varying pay rates Solid understanding of payroll tax compliance and wage garnishment regulations Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Must be proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with union and non-union payroll processing Working knowledge of construction industry labor practices
